Frequently asked questions
Do you accept health insurance?
STILL is an out-of-network provider. By operating independently of insurance companies, we have the flexibility to provide truly customized care without restrictions on treatments, appointment times, or the services we offer. This means your health decisions are based on what’s best for you, not what an insurance provider decides is “necessary”.
However, we can provide you with a super bill that you can submit to your insurance to seek some reimbursement. Some patients may be able to use their health insurance for some of the testing we order. In addition, to make our care accessible to as many people as possible, we do offer payment plan options with no/low APR for those who qualify.
What should I expect at an appointment?
At STILL we take a personalized, patient-centered approach to your care. We begin by taking time to truly understand you — your history, your concerns, and your goals for healing. Together, we create a plan that is tailored to your needs, which may include ordering lab work and designing an integrative care pathway just for you.
Our model of cares does require a meaningful level of commitment; a rhythm that helps build momentum and allows us to support you closely as you progress. You can expect to have several appointments with us each week, though we remain flexible and responsive to your life and circumstances. Some visits may be more brief, while other sessions are longer and more in-depth to support and optimize your progress. This structure is intentional, as through experience we have determined what is needed to create lasting change for your mind, body, and nervous system.
Do you offer telehealth services?
Yes, some of your care can be via tele-health. We know it’s not always possible to be here in person every time, so we do offer virtual appointments as part of your care pathway. Tele-health allows us to stay connected and keep your progress moving forward, while still maintaining the personalized attention you deserve.
That said, some aspects of your treatment do require in-person visits, and we’ll guide you on when those are essential. Our goal is to offer flexibility where it makes sense, while also ensuring you get the consistency and depth of care that leads to lasting results.
What if I’ve already tried therapy or medications and didn’t feel better?
Many of our patients come to us after traditional approaches still left them feeling “stuck”. Because we combine functional psychiatry with trauma-informed care, we address both the root causes in the body and nervous system, and the emotional patterns that may be holding you back. This multidimensional model often creates breakthroughs where single-approach care has not.
What kinds of trauma do you help with?
We work with both “big T” traumas (such as abuse, loss, or accidents) and “little t” traumas (like attachment wounds, ongoing stress, or feeling unseen or unsupported). Both can leave deep marks on mental health, and both deserve care and healing.
Do you only treat trauma?
No. While we specialize in trauma recovery, our work extends to a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, stress-related health issues, and more. Trauma often plays a role in many of these challenges, but we also support people whose struggles are rooted in biology, lifestyle, or other factors.
What does a care pathway look like at STILL?
Every patient begins with a comprehensive intake where we look at your story, your biology, and your goals. From there, we design a personalized plan of care that may include functional psychiatry, trauma therapy, nervous system practices, lifestyle support or more. This isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” approach — your pathway is unique to you, and it evolves as you grow.
Are the care pathways patient-centered?
Yes. We believe healing is most effective when patients are active partners in their care. We’ll listen closely to your needs, values, and goals, and together we’ll decide what strategies make sense. Your care and healing is not something done to you — it’s something we walk with you.
What is expected of me as a patient?
Lasting healing requires more than just showing up to appointments. We ask that our patients come ready to engage with the process — practicing tools outside of sessions, making lifestyle shifts where needed, and committing time and energy to their own growth. This doesn’t mean perfection; it means willingness and consistency.
Why do you emphasize readiness for change?
Because deep healing takes effort and intention. Unlike quick-fix or purely symptom-based models, our approach goes beneath the surface. Patients who benefit most are those who are motivated to explore root causes, try new practices, and take steady steps toward lasting change.
How flexible are care pathways?
Very. Your plan is reviewed regularly and adapted based on your progress, feedback, and changing needs. Some patients need more structure and accountability, while others thrive with greater independence. We adjust your pathway so it continues to serve you in real time.
How long is a typical care pathway?
I feel nervous about starting — is that normal?
Yes, completely. Taking the first step can feel intimidating, especially if you’ve tried other things before. We create a safe, compassionate space where you’re met exactly where you are. You don’t have to walk this path alone — we will walk beside you.
